Chivas USA blanks FC Dallas for fifth win

Soccer Betting Lines

04/26/2009 - Carson, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Atiba Harris and Alecko Eskandarian scored in the second half and Chivas USA beat 10-man FC Dallas, 2-0, on Saturday night to win its fifth game of the season.

Chivas (5-1-1) lost its first match Wednesday at Toronto FC but bounced back at The Home Depot Center, where it is now 4-0-0.

FC Dallas (1-4-1) goalie Dario Sala was ejected midway through the first half, and Chivas USA finally took advantage with goals in the 68th and 91st minutes.

Despite not being able to take advantage of the extra man in last 20 minutes of the first half, Chivas settled in after the break to solidify its grasp on the top spot in the Western Conference.

Mariano Trujillo and Paulo Nagamura assisted on Harris' goal in the 68th minute and substitutes Gerson Mayen and Eskandarian combined on the clincher in injury time.

Chivas goalie Zach Thornton made six saves to post the shutout.

Chivas will try to build on its win when it visits the San Jose Earthquakes on May 3. FC Dallas will try to rebound May 3 when it visits D.C. United.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds

With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.

Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season.  Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.

This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy.  A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
