03/08/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - A pair of teams completing for playoff spots in their respective conferences will meet today in Dallas, as the Stars welcome the Montreal Canadiens for a showdown at American Airlines Center.

The Canadiens are currently tied with Carolina for sixth in the Eastern Conference with 75 points and are only two points in front of 10th-seeded Buffalo. Dallas has 70 points and is locked in a tie with Edmonton and Nashville for the final two postseason berths in the West.

The Stars have recorded wins in two of their last three games after losing their previous five outings. Dallas picked up a key win in the playoff race its last time out, recording a close win in Anaheim on Friday.

Loui Eriksson scored twice to lead the Stars to a 3-2 win over the Ducks at Honda Center.

Mike Ribeiro posted a goal and an assist for Dallas. Steve Ott collected two helpers and Marty Turco made 36 saves, including 19 in the second period, to earn the win.

The Stars are 17-12-4 as the host this year and will try to halt a five-game home losing streak today.

The Canadiens, meanwhile, have lost back-to-back games on the heels of a four- game winning streak. Montreal was slammed in Buffalo, 5-1, on Wednesday and was shut out Friday evening in Atlanta.

Kari Lehtonen recorded his second shutout on the year behind 25 saves, as the Thrashers logged a 2-0 decision the Canadiens at Philips Arena.

Carey Price got a second straight start in net while Jaroslav Halak is battling an illness and took the loss for a second time in three days and for a seventh consecutive time overall. He did halt 26-of-27 shots, though, a marked improvement over Wednesday's loss to Buffalo, where he allowed all five goals on 27 shots.

It is uncertain if Price will get the start again or if Halak is well enough to return.

The Canadiens are completing a three-game road trip today. The Habs are 14-18-3 as the guest this season and have lost five of six and 12 of their last 14 games on the road.

Dallas notched a 4-1 home win over the Canadiens in the last meeting between the clubs on December 23 of last season. The Stars are 5-1 with three ties in the last nine meetings with Montreal.
