09/14/2007 - Cologne, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Soren Hansen carded a four-under 68 Friday to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the Mercedes Benz Championship.
Hansen completed 36 holes at 11-under-par 133.
Lee Westwood, who fired a 61 on Thursday, coughed up a four-shot lead in the second round with four bogeys on the back nine. He ended up shooting one-over 73 and is alone in second at 10-under-par 132.
Bernhard Langer, who is serving as tournament host this week, posted a four- under 68 on Friday. He moved into a share of third at seven-under-par 137 with Simon Khan (70) and Simon Dyson (71).
Hansen went out two hours before Westwood. Hansen carded his first birdie on the par-five third. He then collected back-to-back birdies from the fifth to move to 10-under.
The 33 year old gave a stroke back on the ninth at Gut Larchenhof. Around the turn, Hansen birdied the par-five 13th for the second straight day.
Hansen parred his next three holes before moving to 11-under with a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-four 17th. He closed with a par, but still trailed Westwood by three.
"Something has really clicked the last few months and I'm really enjoying my game and my golf at the moment," Hansen said. "I knew it has always been in there, but it is just a matter of being more consistent. The last three months I have gone out and played solid golf.
"My putting is also definitely better. People who have been following me throughout my career say my stroke is a lot different now to the way it used to be and that my whole short game is a lot sharper. My wedge play is better and when you put all three of those ingredients together, the game gets a lot easier."
Westwood stumbled to a bogey on the second, but rebounded in fine fashion. He rolled in back-to-back birdies from the fifth to get to 12-under.
The Englishman then chipped in for eagle on the par-five seventh to jump four clear of Hansen at 14-under. Westwood parred three in a row around the turn, but trouble loomed.
Westwood gave a stroke back at the par-three 11th. He faltered to another bogey on 14. A day after making birdie on the par-three 16th, Westwood tripped to a bogey there on Friday to drop into a share of the lead at 11-under.
After a par on 17, Westwood closed with a bogey at the last to fall into second place.
"All in all I didn't play too badly, but if I was being honest I didn't hit enough fairways," said Westwood, who battled a head cold in round two. "But I didn't think I played as badly as a 73, I didn't think I got much out of my round today other than the chip in on the seventh for my eagle."
Thomas Bjorn fired a 67 to move into a share of sixth at six-under-par 138. He was joined there by two-time major champion John Daly, Niclas Fasth, eight- time Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie, Miguel Angel Jimenez, 1999 British Open champ Paul Lawrie and Mikko Ilonen.

With the field of 64/65 set, MySportsbook.com has the Florida Gators as the 4-1 favorite to successfully defend their National Championship. Men’s Division-1 College Basketball has not seen a team repeat as National Champions since Duke won back to back championships in ’91 & ‘92. After losing three out of four late in the season, the Gators are full of momentum as they won their last four games by an average of 18 points. Not surprisingly, right behind the Gators are the other three top seeds: Kansas 5-1, UNC 6-1, and Ohio State 7-1. Many consider Kansas to be the hottest team in the country, having won 11 straight. With Kansas, it is hard to ignore all of the early exits from the “dance” in recent years. With an impressive ACC Tournament, UNC ensured themselves the other top seed. UNC has about as much talent as any other team in the tournament but with a team that’s best players are primarily freshman and sophomores, could youth be a concern. Behind freshman sensation, Greg Oden, OSU will look to do what their football team failed to do just a few months earlier. OSU seems to have peeked at the right time, as they currently have a 17 game winning streak. Since the tournament field was expanded in 1985, there has never been an instance where all four #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four. It is obvious that each of the top seeds have the talent to make it through to Atlanta. But as everyone knows, when makes the NCAA Tournament so special are all of the spoilers and “Cinderella” stories that knock off the favorites on a daily basis.
