McGrady is expected to seek additional medical opinions in the coming days and his status will be re-evaluated following the All-Star break.
The two-time NBA scoring champ has already missed 16 games this season.
McGrady underwent a pair of arthroscopic surgical procedures in order to clean out loose bodies in the joints of his left knee and left shoulder this past May.
